MOON CAFE: Minimalist Korean-inspired Café in Angeles City, Pampanga

Minimalist cafés are really a thing nowadays. Located along Friendship Highway, Angeles City, Moon Cafe opened and started brewing last December 2020. It is a minimalist Korean-inspired café that will surely be your new hangout place.

Since we were in Clark, we decided to take an exit at Clark Friendship Gate to try and grab some coffee and something to eat at Moon Cafe.

Tip: If it’s your first time and you are coming from North or from Metro Manila, the Clark South Exit at SCTEX would be the best option. Once inside Clark, take an exit at Clark Friendship Gate to reach Friendship Highway.

MOON CAFE

Upon reaching the place, I got confused where the door entrance to Moon Cafe is. Unlike its neighboring shops like Kalidad Coffee (also recommended and worth trying), the entrance to this café is at the other side of the building. Parking spaces are available there too.

White painted walls, smooth finish concrete flooring, plants, good lighting, and of course the iconic “But First, Coffee” signage are some of the few things I first noticed (a clean, cool, and minimalist aesthetic). Full and crescent moon-shaped mirrors are in place as well, that somehow makes the café look spacious.

Cool and clean look
But first, coffee.

There is a magazine and book corner, but for everyone’s safety, this section is off limits for now to minimize contact due to the pandemic.

Their cute aesthetic chairs with cushion are relaxing too especially for a petite girl like me (abot ko ang floor 😂). There’s also a quite bigger table beside the white tiled part of the café, which I think can accommodate a group of 6 people.

With my sister, Chria. I drove for her so she treated me here. 😊

WHAT WE ORDERED

Other than coffee, Moon Cafe offers non-caffeinated drinks, sandwiches, pasta, and desserts.

Moon Cafe’s Menu

For our drinks, we ordered Caramel Coffee and Strawberry Milk. Both tastes good and are not too sweet. It’s exactly how I want it. If I am not mistaken, they use fresh strawberries for their Strawberry Milk.

We also tried their Salted Egg Pasta, Egg Mayo Toast, and Almond Croissant. I was hesitant ordering the Salted Egg Pasta at first because it might be too salty and secondly, I find it somehow pricey. Yet, I did not regret trying it. Seems legit salted eggs were used and not just merely flavoring. It would say it also has chili flakes because it tastes a little bit spicy, but not really too much. Bottom line, it’s really good and I highly recommend trying it.

Salted Egg Pasta (worth trying!)

The Egg Mayo Toast on the other hand was served with generous amount of egg mayo and fries on the side. For me, there’s nothing too special about it. I am not saying it does not taste good, maybe I just know what I am expecting. Still, this one’s good to order and try.

The croissant is soft and has custard and almond slices on top. By the way, have you noticed that they provide wooden utensils to use? I’m not sure though what type or if it’s made of bamboo, but regardless, this is good to help lessen plastic wastes.

If you are looking for a coffee shop that not only serves coffee, then this is the right one for you. Moon Cafe is indeed another minimalist coffee shop in the city that you might want to give a try. It’s also worth your Instagram feed.

Since it’s still pretty new, people usually come and go every now and then. As for us, I already expected that there will be quite a lot of people. Plus, it so happened that we went during peak hours. Our experience might not be the best, but nevertheless, I still enjoyed their food especially the salted egg pasta and of course, my daily dose of coffee that is very much needed.
