Malagos Garden Resort: What To Do and Expect in this Garden Resort in Davao City

Malagos Garden Resort is a 12-hectare garden resort located in Barangay Malagos, Baguio District, Davao City. It is a perfect place to unwind and take a break from the hustle and bustle city life while seeking to reconnect with nature.

Thinking of where to go on my last day in Davao City, I asked my friend. He suggested that we either visit Eden Nature Park and Resort or Malagos Garden Resort. Torn between the two known nature parks and resorts in the city, I chose Malagos Garden Resort. Here are some of the things you can do and expect at Malagos Garden Resort.

Dine at Malagos Garden Resort

Since we went on a weekend, we availed their day tour weekend package. The weekend package includes admission to park attractions, a lunch buffet, and the bird show which we failed to attend (starts 10:30 in the morning) since we arrived just in time for lunch.

The only picture we have at the pavilion. Gutom na kasi kami.

Tired, hungry, and thirsty from figuring out how to get to Malagos Garden Resort, my friend and I went straight to the pavilion for lunch. There are a lot of food to choose from depending on your preference – from appetizers, salads, main dishes, cold and hot drinks, and desserts. We made sure we tried everything. The best and what I enjoyed eating the most is their pork and isaw (chicken intestine) barbeque.

Explore and have Fun at Malagos Garden Resort

After filling our bellies with good food, we went out for a walk at the garden of Malagos. I was overjoyed to see these swings around the park and had fun riding on them (and of course taking pictures too). It made me feel like a kid again.

Other than the swings, there are these thingies too. I really don’t know what they’re called, rocking chair? Anyway, good thing pictures can describe what I cannot describe. 😅

My friend and I stayed here for a while and exchanged some stories as we have not seen each other for years since he moved in to Davao City. We continued our conversation as we went for a walk to the Zen Garden.

A relaxing spot I would say, right?

Fond of indoor games or activities? As we explore around the garden of Malagos, scrabble, chess, table tennis, and sungka (a traditional Filipino Mancala game) are some interesting and challenging activities that you can play with your friends or families. Take note, some of these activities come in a life-size version.

There are also other park activities that are available such as the flywire (zipline), skywalker (obstacle course), powerplay, kid’s outdoor adventure, and calesa ride.

Learn About Butterflies at the Museo de Mariposa

The museum might be small from the outside, but surely your minds will be refreshed and will be full upon stepping out of this museum. More than about the lifecycle of a butterfly, you will learn how many species are there all over the world, what order they belong to, and so much more.

Walk Among the Butterflies at the Butterfly Sanctuary

After learning about the butterflies, we went straight to the butterfly sanctuary. Upon entering, we were greeted by giant chairs and table. Feels like in a fairy tale. I imagined I was Tinkerbelle who flies around the sanctuary with the butterflies full of excitement.

I seldom see butterflies nowadays especially if you live in a highly urbanized city. It is good to see that these butterflies have found their home here in Malagos.

Visit Malagos Chocolate Park and Museum

Our last destination and my favorite part of this trip is a visit at the Malagos Chocolate Park and Malagos Chocolate Museum. If you do have a sweet tooth like me, then this is for you. I’m pretty sure, just like me, you will also enjoy this place as I share with you in a separate blog post about it here: An Instagramable Gallery of My Fun Experience at the Malagos Chocolate Park and Museum.

Take Lots of Photos at Malagos Garden Resort

Lastly, one thing is for sure when you visit Malagos Garden Resort, you will leave this place capturing lots of beautiful photos that are worthy to be posted on your social media accounts such as Facebook and Instagram.

Overall, Malagos Garden Resort is not just a place to relax, find peace, and have fun, but it is also a place for learning. I realized, a day is not enough to fully explore and experience Malagos Garden Resort. There are more to see and more activities you can do in this place such as animal feeding, or maybe an overnight stay. Still, I enjoyed our day tour experience in this garden resort.
