Quick Escape for Breakfast at NAPA at Crosswinds, Tagaytay

Tagaytay is one of the favorite go-to destinations for a quick road trip. Given its high altitude, it is known to have picturesque views as it is overlooking Taal Lake and Taal Volcano at some areas. That said, good places to dine with beautiful overlooking sceneries is also another thing to experience when in Tagaytay, and one of them is NAPA at Crosswinds.

NAPA at Crosswinds: The Interior and Exterior

NAPA at Crosswinds is likely inspired by Napa Valley in California that is one of the famous wine regions in the world.

We arrived just in time for breakfast as they open as early as 7 o’clock in the morning. We were glad that we were the first few customers who got in and have not experienced being in long queues. Though there was a group of bikers who arrived at the same time as we did, NAPA at Crosswinds have a lot of available seats to accommodate their customers.

Where to?

The moment you enter the NAPA gate, you will notice seats and wine barrels turned into tables, surrounded by plants and trees with a music playing on the background—a perfect al fresco setup. Further below the green NAPA house, there are more outdoor seats available.

The interior has a rustic vibe. Everything is mostly made of wood, including the chandelier. More wine barrels are seen up the ceiling. Wine corks were stick together and turned into something nice as part of the stairs instead of throwing them away. There are also few more decorations seen that just complement in the whole interior of the NAPA house.

Since the lower level has been occupied by a group of bikers, we stayed upstairs. I can say that we had a good spot for our seats. It comes with a great view and a serene ambiance. Pwede umemote o mag-senti. 😉 We can feel the cool breeze of air since we are near the window. But definitely, every corner of this place is worth your Instagram feed.

NAPA at Crosswinds: The Menu

NAPA at Crosswinds has a wide selection of food. Their menu is categorized to Classic Comfort (breakfast, appetizers, pizza), Main Entrée (large plates, burgers, pasta), Beverages, and Wine & Cheese. Yes, you read that right, they offer wine, deli, and cheese. Oh no… I am now daydreaming of a relaxing night over a glass of wine in a cool weather, with a very nice overlooking view of night lights from afar. Anyway, aside from that, they offer cakes and pastries too.

My siblings and I ordered Rustic Classic Pizza, Truffle Burger, and Long Drive Breakfast. Of course, it would not be complete without coffee especially during this time of the day, and the weather is just so nice for a cup of coffee. So, we got hot Vietnamese Latte and hot Caramel Latte.

Hmm… what can I say about the food we ate. The Truffle Burger is what we liked the most. It comes with fries. The bun is soft and the burger patty is juicy. The Rustic Classic Pizza was also good. It’s very cheesy in flavor. Everything seems fine for us except for the Long Drive Breakfast. I’m not saying the whole thing tastes bad. We were just kind of unhappy about the waffles because they turned out to be sort of stale (makunat). I do not know if it’s really like that or perhaps, since orders were piled up when we placed ours, it might not be served out of the kitchen right away. We still ate it anyway. 😅

The coffee on the other hand was good enough. Between the two, I like the Vietnamese Latte more as compared with the Caramel Latte, which is too sweet for my liking. And oh! I just realized that this is the most expensive cup of coffee I have ever bought. The cheapest they have would be 215 pesos for a cup of hot Café Americano. Mas mahal pa kesa sa Starbucks. 😅

By the way, bring cash just in case. Though they accept credit card, it seems their terminal is always problematic (at least according to the staff). My gally! Medj kinabahan ako. I really don’t bring a lot of cash because as much as I can pay using my credit card, I would do so. Thankfully, someone with us had enough cash to pay our bill. I think this is something they can sort out as a merchant, like maybe reporting it to their payment solutions partner or internet service provider (if it’s their internet connection).

My Thoughts

NAPA at Crosswinds is clearly a place to consider if you are looking for a café or restaurant to dine with a beautiful scenic view. It is relaxing at the same time refreshing since the weather is also cool. Be it staying indoor or outdoor, every corner is Instagrammable. After dining, you may also explore the vicinity, and enjoy the surroundings and have your photos taken.

The food and drinks we had are fine despite our thoughts and experience about the waffles. Overall, it’s pricey (at least for me), which might prevent me from coming back. 😉 But I guess, aside from the quality of food and drinks, and the service they provide, perhaps the view is what you really paid for.

So, is it worth it? For the interior, the ambiance, and the view, I would say yes. As for the other stuff, such as the quality of food and the service, it would really depend on what you will order and the circumstances that you might encounter. Still, for the experience, yes. Give it try and treat yourself once in a while. 😊

How to Get There

Via Private Vehicle: You may use Google Maps (or Waze) just like how we manage to get to this place.

Via Public Transportation:

  • From Buendia Bus Terminal, which is right next to LRT-1 Gil Puyat Station, take a bus that would pass through Tagaytay such as DLTB (usually buses bound to Nasugbu or Calatagan). You may ask and confirm the bus route from the operator if unsure.
  • Alight at Olivarez. Make sure to inform the conductor about your drop-off point.
  • From there, you may ride a jeepney bound to People’s Park. Tell the driver to drop you off at Crosswinds. Another option is to take a tricycle.
